Evan Lohmann is the Assistant Director for Education Abroad within the Office of International Education and Development at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. In his current role, Evan manages all international exchange programs and advises both incoming and outgoing students. Prior to his role at Appalachian State, Evan served as the Study Abroad Coordinator at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois. While there, he led many initiatives and served as an international recruiter to China, India, Nepal and South Korea. Evan has volunteered with NAFSA: Association of International Educators. He also led the organization of Chicago’s Lessons From Abroad returnee conference in 2015 and 2016. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Evan studied abroad in Istanbul, Turkey. After completing his bachelor’s degree, he taught English in the Republic of Georgia. He then returned to the U.S., to serve as the International Student Coordinator Intern in the Office of International Programs at Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina. Evan’s educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and mass communications from the University of South Carolina and a Master of Arts degree in communication studies, from Eastern Illinois University.
