Building Global Citizens Through Community Engagement:
ISEP’s Approach in Seoul and Barcelona
ISEP believes that meaningful intercultural exchange extends beyond the classroom. We actively encourage community engagement and strive to create opportunities for students to connect with local communities across as many programs as possible. Through inclusion of these experiences into our programming, we help students develop cultural fluency, empathy, and a sense of global responsibility.
This presentation will showcase how this commitment comes to life in two dynamic locations—Seoul and Barcelona. In Seoul, students participate in collaborative projects with local organizations and cultural immersion activities that foster mutual understanding. In Barcelona, service-learning initiatives and partnerships with neighborhood groups allow students to explore themes of sustainability, social equity, and cultural heritage through hands-on engagement.
By sharing best practices and student outcomes from these programs, we will demonstrate how intentional community engagement enhances cultural fluency, strengthens local partnerships, and prepares students to become responsible global citizens.
