ISEP Student Stories: Aime's First Impressions of Study Abroad in France

January 23, 2013

This week’s blog post is brought to you courtesy of ISEP student Aime S. Aime is an English and French double-major from John Carroll University and is currently studying abroad at the Université de Savoie in Chambéry, France. Aime’s just arrived in France and shares her first impressions as well as photos of her new study abroad home!

After landing in France, I was nervous about my stay. I was struggling to keep up with the language and felt restricted by my necessity to speak English.

I met my ISEP Direct group less than 24 hours after I stepped foot in Chambéry, France, and I felt completely at home. We knew that we were all on the same page, studying thousands of kilometers away from home and we needed each other to stay strong. We push each other to speak the native language and we have the desire to learn more. These people will be my family for the next four months, and I couldn’t be happier.

When I was about to quit, I had 8 ISEP students encouraging me to keep going. We snowshoed the Alps!
