Standing Together

January 30, 2017

Our global ISEP community does not have borders. Founded on the principle that we can create a more peaceful, just and inclusive world through international cooperation and understanding, we strongly endorse policies that welcome and support ISEP students coming to the United States from institutions regardless of their country of origin. Inclusion and community are among our core values, and we do not discriminate based on race, national origin, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or gender identity.

Today, we reach out to you – and ISEP Coordinators supporting you on your study abroad journey:

Students currently on U.S. campuses from ISEP members around the world, you are welcome here. Our ISEP Global team is here to support you in addition to your host campus international office. Please reach out to our team, and to your ISEP Coordinator for accurate information regarding U.S. policy updates. We will update the ISEP community with guidance regarding new U.S. policies as they are released.

U.S. students currently abroad, you are ambassadors of our shared ISEP values. We encourage you to show the world the resilience, humility, diversity and creativity that inspired you to study abroad. Engage in real conversations with others, and listen to them to better understand the culture in which you are living and from which you come.

ISEP Coordinators across the U.S., many of your institutions have provided statements of support for the international students you are hosting. As the J-1 visa sponsor for ISEP students on your campus, we are ready to work with you to help all ISEP students feel welcome and remain safe. Thank you for your work and your commitment.

As a community, we stand together. We are confident that throughout your time abroad, you are building your knowledge and empathy for other cultures. The world needs your voice, your inspiration and your passion to advance intercultural understanding.

John S. Lucas, Ph.D.
President and CEO
