New Year’s Around the (ISEP) World

June 30, 2016

Happy New Year! Whether your celebratory plans involve eating grapes (Spain) or watching the first sunrise (Japan and Korea), everyone around the world rings the new year in a little bit differently. We asked our students — you! — what New Year’s traditions exist in your home countries, and you shared! Some of your New Year festivities include…

“Watching the Ball Drop in New York City (USA).” – Alee H, University of Southern Indiana

A raclette feast!
A raclette feast!

“Eating raclette and shooting fireworks in the streets of Germany!” – Laura H, University of Dortmund

“Watching the Red and White concert broadcasted by NHK while eating soba and Osechi (Japan).” – Tsumugi N, Kansai Gaidai University

“Fireworks and eating oliebollen (the Netherlands).” – Ranah B, Radboud University Nijmegen

What about you? What are your New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day traditions? Tell us in the comments! And of course — happiest of wishes for the New Year from ISEP. Will 2014 be the year you study abroad?
