Unique. Mysterious. Lovely. Inexpressible. These adjectives all describe Melbourne, a place which you must visit once in your life! It’s been almost two months since I came here as an exchange student but it feels like I’ve lived here for a long time… Why am I so amazed by this city?
As a photographer, I find so many beautiful spots to take pictures. As a food-lover, I find amazing cafes and restaurants to enjoy. As a traveler, I come across many historical landmarks and cultural hotspots around the city. I know I can’t touch on ALL of the places in Melbourne that I’ve already been to in this short blog post, but I’ll share with you the main spots that you must visit if you find yourself visiting or studying abroad in Melbourne, Australia.
Let’s start our journey…
1. Melbourne CBD (Central Business District)
Shopping lovers and street art followers can’t miss Melbourne CBD, with its various shops and cafes.
2. St Paul’s Cathedral
If you’d like to see a historic part of Melbourne, I suggest you visit St. Paul’s Cathedral, which is located opposite of Flinders Street Station, another interesting spot.
3. Graffiti Alley
For street art lovers (especially graffiti lovers), Graffiti Alley is the perfect place to capture some great photos for Instagram. Fun fact: the images are always changing so you can come back again and again!
4. St Kilda Beach
I just love sitting on a beach and enjoying the sunset. If you enjoy this too, St Kilda is the best spot for it!
5. State Library of Victoria
Bookworms will fall in love with the State Library of Victoria and its huge collection of books. Not to mention a wonderful place to read them.
6. National Gallery of Victoria
One my favorite places in Melbourne is the NGV. I’m not such an art expert but I was very impressed by works of such skillful and amazing artists! One such memorable exhibitions at the NGV was “Flower Obsession” by Yayoi Kusama.
