Andrea Custodi, Ph.D.
Vice President | Academic Strategy and Program Development
Dr. Custodi is a seasoned leader in education abroad, with over 20 years of experience in senior management and executive leadership at well-respected education abroad organizations. As ISEP's Vice President of Academic Strategy and Program Development, Dr. Custodi leads academic program development initiatives, provides thought leadership in the field, supports key institutional relationships, and serves as a member of ISEP’s Executive team. Guided by ISEP’s new strategic plan and core values of expanding access to transformative international learning, Dr. Custodi leads the strategic expansion of innovative, mission-aligned programs while overseeing continued development and enhancement of ISEP’s existing Direct program portfolio. Her role also oversees academic affairs, leads curriculum management initiatives and liaises with ISEP’s school of record. Dr. Custodi's extensive record of leadership within the field includes serving as an elected member of the Council of the Forum on Education Abroad, as Chair of the Forum's Standards Committee, Curriculum Committee, Outcomes Assessment Committee, and Ethics Working Group, several Forum Conference Committees, and as Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the Forum's Academic Leadership Community of Practice (ALCoP). Dr. Custodi has published and presented widely in the field on subjects ranging from curriculum development and critical literacies, to health, safety, and risk management and ethical issues in education abroad. With an interdisciplinary PhD from The George Washington University and an academic background spanning South Asian religious studies, critical theory, history, and international politics, Dr. Custodi speaks French and Italian fluently.
