Sanford J. Ungar, director of the Free Speech Project at Georgetown University, joined the ISEP Board in 2017. Previously he served as president of Goucher College (2001-2014), director of the Voice of America (1999-2001), dean of the School of Communication at American University (1986-1999) and a co-host of "All Things Considered" on NPR (1980-83). An international journalist and author, Ungar obtained his Master’s degree in International History from the London School of Economics and Political Science and his undergraduate degree in Government from Harvard College. He teaches undergraduate seminars on Free Speech at Georgetown University.
