Does ISEP insurance cover flight cancellations?

ISEP insurance does not cover flight cancellations or changes. ISEP recommends contacting the airline with which you booked your flight to see about potential change fees being waived due to unforeseen circumstances. ISEP recommends that students consider purchasing independent supplemental travel insurance to help mitigate potential change fees.

I need a COVID test before I arrive in my host country. Is this covered?

ISEP insurance is not valid in your home country. ISEP insurance only begins both on the first date of coverage and when you are outside your home country. ISEP recommends that all students maintain health insurance coverage in their home countries before departure and after returning from program to cover any medical care needs, as ISEP insurance does not apply in a student’s home country.

Will I be able to extend insurance if travel restrictions require that I remain in my host country longer than expected?

If a student is required to remain in their host country longer than expected due to travel restrictions, ISEP will be able to provide instructions regarding extending insurance coverage. Generally, students may extend their coverage for up to two months after their program ends. ISEP recommends that students continue to monitor their email inbox closely and do not hesitate to reach out with any additional concerns. It is the student’s responsibility to request an extension of ISEP insurance coverage while abroad.  Please keep in mind, ISEP insurance is not valid in your home country, so be sure to have an alternative plan in place prior to returning home.
