1. Acceptance of ISEP Student Terms and Conditions
1.1.
This is an agreement (“Agreement”) between the student (“you” or “your”) and International Student Exchange Programs, including its affiliates and agents (“ISEP,” “we,” “us” or “our”). This Agreement sets forth the legal terms and conditions governing your a) ISEP application, b) acceptance of placement, c) term and termination, d) early termination or termination of an ISEP program. You agree to and are bound by this Agreement, which is incorporated herein by reference. If you do not agree to all of the terms and conditions contained in this Agreement, do not apply for an ISEP program.
1.2
ISEP may change the terms of this Agreement from time to time at its sole discretion. When these changes are made, ISEP will make a new copy of the Agreement available on our website and will indicate the new effective date. Any new Additional Terms will be made available to you from within, or through, the affected service on the applicable website. We will also attempt to give you notice by sending an email notice to you using the contact information provided by you and/or by posting a notice on the website. You agree to keep your contact information up-to-date and that our sending of an email to you at the address you have provided constitutes effective notice to you.
2. Application Information – ISEP Exchange and ISEP Direct Programs
Once you apply and submit your ISEP application, you agree to:
- Pay the required application fee
- Authorize ISEP staff to send a copy of all your documents to host ISEP Coordinators at prospective host institutions
- Notify your home ISEP Coordinator immediately if you no longer wish to be considered for an ISEP placement
3. Acceptance of Placement – ISEP Exchange and ISEP Direct Programs
Once you accept your placement and sign your acceptance package, you agree to:
- Pay your home institution or ISEP the designated placement fee (ISEP Exchange) or program fee (ISEP Direct) covering the full period of your placement
- Purchase health insurance as required by ISEP at least 45 days prior to the program start date (if placed at an ISEP Exchange program)
- Take part in all aspects of the program, including orientation and pre/post program evaluations. Any requests for accommodating late arrivals to and/or early departures from your program require prior approval by ISEP and cannot always be guaranteed
- Have the status of non-degree student at your host institution unless you have applied for and been accepted to a degree program
- Abide by any additional conditions listed in your acceptance package contract, including the Special Conditions of Placement
- Review and follow the Pre-Departure Information once available, as well as any additional information sent to you by your host institution, including any required internal registration or enrollment processes
- Accept your placement as limited to the period specified (an application for extension must be made in writing and is subject to review and approval by your home and host institutions and by ISEP)
- Students are responsible for enrolling in sufficient credits at their host university as outlined by their home university requirements
- Permit your official academic records and transcripts from your host institution to be sent to ISEP staff and to your home institution
- Permit ISEP staff to send your parents or guardians any academic, medical or financial information deemed appropriate by the executive staff of ISEP
- ISEP staff having the right to cancel or alter any placement or amend the conditions of participation should unforeseen circumstances make this advisable
- The student statement of responsibility and policies set forth in the ISEP Health and Safety Policy
And understand that:
- ISEP seeks to ensure that benefits and services outlined in the ISEP Terms of Participation for ISEP institutional members are provided by cooperating institutions, and ISEP shall seek to correct any inadequacies brought to its attention
- ISEP’s responsibility to you, the participant, does not extend beyond such endeavors and that ISEP is not liable to any participant for benefits not provided by the participant’s home or host institution
- You are responsible for obtaining the necessary documents to apply for a student visa for your host country before departure from your home country
- Course prerequisites at the host institution must be met and that course registration at the participant’s host institution is based on the availability of offerings and cannot be guaranteed
- ISEP and your home institution are not responsible for the possible disruption of studies while you are attending your host institution
- ISEP and your home and host institutions cannot guarantee your health and safety while you are studying abroad
- You are responsible for acting prudently and exercising caution and common sense at all times
- You understand that you may be using different forms of transportation to participate in this program
- ISEP as well as your home and host institutions are not responsible for any personal injury, death, and/or loss or damage to property suffered by you during your program or during periods of travel with, and independent of, your ISEP program
- You may not enroll directly at the host institution in the term that immediately follows your ISEP program
4. Term and Termination – ISEP Exchange and ISEP Direct Programs
4.1 Term
The terms of this Agreement will continue to apply until terminated by either you or ISEP as set forth below.
4.2 Withdrawal or Early Return
If you withdraw from ISEP any time after accepting placement or if you return early, you agree to the terms of the ISEP Student Withdrawal Policy.
4.3 Early Termination by ISEP, Your home and/or host ISEP Institutions
ISEP reserves the right, in coordination with the home and host ISEP Coordinator, to terminate your participation in an ISEP program at any time if you have been deemed to have violated the ISEP student code of conduct, the host country laws or the home or host institution rules and regulations.
ISEP Student Code of Conduct:
Your placement may be terminated by ISEP, your home or your host institution if you:
- Fail to remain enrolled full-time at the host institution
- Fail to maintain academic standards as defined by your home or host institution
Engage in the following prohibited behavior:
- Behavior that is detrimental to your health, welfare, or safety or that of others
- Self-endangerment including involvement in activities that could result in personal harm
- Disruptive behavior
- Disorderly, indecent or obscene conduct
- Violent or threatening behavior against others
- Falsification of personal records including, but not limited to, alteration of transcripts or grade reports, medical records or other documents required for participation.
Fail to complete the ISEP Student Self-Assessment Medical Form enclosed in your acceptance packet
Fail to inform ISEP about medication or medical treatment that you have received or are receiving, and there are related problems during the program
- While a certain amount of stress due to culture shock is normal, these stressors may aggravate disabilities or illness that the student may have under control in your regular environment.
Fail to uphold the laws of the country or state where you are studying as well as the rules and regulations of your host and home institution
- It is your responsibility to be informed about the laws of the country and/or state in addition to the regulations of the university and to conduct yourself in a manner that complies with those laws.
ISEP will do its due diligence to collect information and statements from all parties involved in an alleged violation. ISEP program staff will review all information and will make a decision regarding the consequences of a violation in conjunction with the home and host ISEP Coordinators.
4.4 Effect of Early Termination
If ISEP program staff, the home institution or the host institution deem it necessary to terminate you, you will lose your ISEP benefits and will be expected to leave the host institution within 48 hours.
ISEP reserves the right to require you to leave sooner than 48 hours if it is determined by ISEP and the home or host ISEP Coordinator that you are in danger to harm yourself or others.
ISEP will provide a transcript for any completed courses at the time of the incident. If you have not finished course work, you risk not receiving a transcript from your host institution.
If you’re terminated early, you agree to:
- Pay the ISEP placement fee
- Pay the full program fee at the discretion of your home institution in collaboration and agreement with ISEP and your host institution
- Pay any non-recoverable costs incurred by your host institution based on your acceptance
- Forfeit your right to receive benefits as an ISEP student and reimburse your host institution for any money advanced to you to cover benefits beyond the date of your withdrawal, termination, or early return
- Be aware that you may lose financial aid or scholarships due to loss of full-time student status
- The loss of full-time student status constitutes non-compliance with your student visa, necessitating your immediate departure from the U.S. (for students bound for the United States only)
- Pay penalties assessed by air carriers that may result from itinerary changes
- Take responsibility for any additional expenses resulting from the itinerary change or cancellation, and not hold ISEP responsible
5. APPLICATION AND ACCEPTANCE OF PLACEMENT INFORMATION – INTERN ABROAD PROGRAMS
5.1 Payment Conditions – Intern Abroad Programs
- Student pays $500 nonrefundable application fee, which is applied to the program fee upon acceptance
- Student pays deposit of 50% of the remaining program fee upon acceptance
- Student pays remaining balance of program fee thirty days thereafter
5.2 Acceptance of Placement – Intern Abroad Programs
Once you accept your placement and sign your acceptance package, you agree to:
- Pay your home institution or ISEP the designated program fee covering your internship program with Global Experiences within 30 days
- Enroll in health insurance through Global Experiences
- Take part in all aspects of the program, including orientation and pre/post program evaluations
- Abide by any additional conditions listed in your acceptance package contract.
- Accept your placement as limited to the period specified (an application for extension must be made in writing and is subject to review and approval by ISEP and Global Experiences)
- Permit your official academic records and transcripts from your host institution to be sent to ISEP staff and to your home institution if applicable.
- Permit ISEP staff to send Global Experiences or your parents/guardians any academic, medical or financial information deemed appropriate by the executive staff of ISEP
- ISEP staff having the right to cancel or alter any placement or amend the conditions of participation should unforeseen circumstances make this advisable
- The student statement of responsibility and policies set forth in the ISEP Health and Safety Policy
And understand that:
