Upon receiving your ISEP placement, you can access your ISEP course list in your Dashboard. We encourage you to review the Course List Guide below and Course List How-To Video to lead you through this process.
Purpose of the ISEP Course List
Helps you confirm that your Host University is a good fit for you academically as you will review the academic programs and courses typically offered for your intended semester.
Provides your Host University insight on your academic expectations to ensure the program is a good fit for you before they move forward in confirming your placement on the program.
Your ISEP Course List does not enroll you in courses and it is not a guarantee of registration in specific courses.
Official course enrollment will happen at a later date, typically around 2 months before arrival, or for some programs, after arrival. You will be able to see further information on course registration in your Pre-Departure Information tab once you receive your ISEP Acceptance Package.
Instructions for Completing Your ISEP Course List
- Log into your ISEP Dashboard and click the “Course List” tab
- Review the academic details on your host university’s ISEP program page under the “Course Description” and “Other Academic Conditions” sections. Many program pages list important details to guide you as you create your course list.
- Use the course search link on your ISEP Course List page.
Reference the course search instructions on your Host University’s ISEP program page to help guide you through your Host University’s course catalogue.
Please ensure to select your desired term and academic year in the course catalogue. Please note that courses in the course catalogue are not taught every semester and course availability is always subject to change.
Be on the lookout for other search criteria including (but not limited to) courses open to Exchange students, language of instruction, academic level (Graduate vs. Undergraduate), campus, pre-requisites, etc.
Specific class offerings for the term/semester you are studying abroad may not be available at the time you complete your course list therefore you may need to reference previous years’ catalogues.
- Discuss your academic plan and requirements with your academic advisor at your home university, if you have not done so already.
You should be aware of how your university determines course equivalencies, and the study abroad transfer credit process.
Flexibility is key so be sure to have alternative course options determined with your home university should the exact classes you find not be offered or are unavailable.
- Complete your ISEP Course List chart.
Identify 6 – 8 courses unless otherwise instructed, that could meet your academic requirements.
After entering the applicable information for your first course, click the Save button on the right and new line will appear to enter the details for another course.
When finished with your Course List, select “Submit Course List to Your Host Institution”. Be sure to save each course before clicking submit.
Important Considerations
Only list courses as “Required” if your graduation timeline would be impacted if you are unable to take that specific course on your ISEP program. As your Course List is not your official registration, marking a course as “Required” does not increase your chances of enrolling in that course.
Some universities use a “course code” (number) to differentiate courses. If your host program does, list the course number. If your host program does not, leave this section blank.
For the Notes column, only enter information if you have something specific you want to communicate to your host university regarding that course.
Full Year program participants should list both Fall and Spring courses and write in the “Other Information” column next to each course which term/semester you intend to take the courses in.
Next Steps
Once you submit your Course List, it will be sent automatically to your Host ISEP Coordinator to review so your placement can be confirmed. Please see further information on the ISEP Placement Process here.
